Terror module: Maharashtra ATS reaches Delhi to interrogate Mumbai-based suspect

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has reached Delhi to interrogate terror suspect Jaan Mohammad Sheikh, who hails from Mumbai and is suspected of having links with Pakistan's spy agency ISI and the 'D-Company'.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has reached Delhi to interrogate terror suspect Jaan Mohammad Sheikh, who was arrested along with five others by the Delhi Police. Sheikh alias 'Sameer Kalia', who hails from Mumbai, is suspected of having links with Pakistan's spy agency ISI and the 'D-Company', the underworld criminal syndicate controlled by fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.

Earlier, Maharashtra ATS chief Vineet Agarwal while speaking to reporters had said that Sheikh was a "henchman of the D-Company" and followed directions "from the other side of the border" when he was connected with it about 20 years back.

A joint team of Mumbai police and Maharashtra ATS had questioned Sheikh's family members and neighbours and searched his house at Sion in Central Mumbai following his arrest in Rajasthan's Kota on September 14.

Sheikh's wife and daughter and one Asghar Sheikh, who had booked Kalia's ticket from Mumbai to Delhi, were released by police after interrogation. According to sources Sunil Batla, a close friend of Sheikh, is still being questioned by the police.

Besides Sheikh, the Delhi Police's Special Cell arrested five others, including two Pak-ISI trained terrorists, who were allegedly planning several blasts across the country during the upcoming festivals.
