Lucknow: Police will not arrest a young woman accused of mercilessly slapping an Ola cab driver in the Uttar Pradesh capital. After the incident, which took place at the Awadh intersection located in the Krishna Nagar police station area, the police on filed a charge sheet against the girl in the court. This charge sheet had to be filed on Saturday itself but the girl's statement could not be recorded.
On Sunday, the accused girl was called to the police station along with her father. In her statement recorded in front of her father, the woman said that she beat the Ola driver in self-defence.

Nine days back at the Awadh intersection, Laxmi had beaten the Ola driver Saadat Ali on the middle road late in the evening. The girl had also leveled allegations against Ali. In view of this, the Krishnanagar police took action against the driver. But after the CCTV footage of the incident came to light on the second day of the incident, did not end at that. In this case, action was also taken against two inspectors following which the investigation of this case was transferred from Krishnanagar to an inspector at Banthra.
The Banthra inspector recorded the statement of the girl in front of a videographer, the Krishnanagar inspector, and a female staff member. This time too the woman repeated that the cab driver was about to hit her and was talking on the phone. Along with this, the girl also made serious allegations against the policemen present at the spot. During the course of the statement, the police also showed video and CCTV footage of the time of the incident to the woman and questioned her on many points in this connection.
According to Krishnanagar ACP Swatantra Kumar Singh, Laxmi's statement was recorded on Sunday. Police then has filed a charge sheet in the court on Monday. He said that a charge sheet has been filed against the girl under the sections of assault. Under these sections, there is a provision of punishment of less than seven years, so she was not arrested. Singh also said that the old video of the girl has also come to the fore showing beating up a bike rider and quarreling with her neighbour because a gate was black in colour. He said that the girl is mentally ill and undergoing treatment.
