S R Balasubramoniyan, MP from Tamil Nadu (AIADMK) asked to roll back heavy duty imposed on crude oil. He said that prices of diesel, petrol have skyrocketed even though crude oil price is low.

The Bill does not elucidate provisions for employees. National safety and security are under threat as the Committee stated that the government intends to attract investors.

Suresh Prabhu, MP from Andhra Pradesh (BJP) suggested multimodal transportation facility along with the development of ports and added that the logistics department should be aligned with the commerce department.

Transhipment is very high in Colombo is very high owing to its location. Similarly, we need to harness our country's eastern and western coasts potential. International trade is dependent on maritime trade and GDP would also increase with port development, he added.

When asked about the age relaxation for SC/OBC sections under EWS quota, Krishnan Pal, MoS Social Justice and Empowerment said that circumstances were different when SC/OBC were given reservation. Applications were less and age relaxation was granted, but under EWS, many applications are received.

Regarding the price of petrol, Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said that both state and central government decide on tax collection from petroleum price. He added that the price in India is dependent on the price of international crude oil.

Answering to KC Venugopal's criticism, Pradhan said that crude oil price today is Rs 61 per barrel. He also added that recently, the price was lowered for seven days while the price remained the same for 250 days. It is not high every time, he said.
