Let’s start by putting it out there that you do not need to be a decorator or an interior designer to give a make-over to your own home. It’s your place and you are the best judge of how to redecorate it or give it a full-fledged make-over.

At some point you might feel bored with the current decoration and arrangement of your home or you might want to add an extra zing to your living room for a house party or even a redecoration with minimum efforts right before the festive season. You might have plenty of ideas as well; however, the biggest questions are; where to start from and how to take it ahead?

Declutter

This step is a non-negotiable. An addition of new things can only be viable when there is enough space for them to shine. Now, decluttering does not mean you discard every old thing, some of the things you love can be refurbished and recycled but it is important to part with things that have been taking up space. Start with cleaning out your living room racks, drawers, closets etc. Basically, minimize!

Add colours

Lay out that bright yellow fuzzy table cover, get brightly printed sofa cushions and bed sheets. You can also buy paintings and bright coloured flowers for your living room. Also getting new curtains that match/contrast with the furniture and paint can also instantly change the vive of your home. For the bedroom you can add scented candles, old happy photographs, colourfull pillows, pretty night lights to make it look like a fairy tale.

Get minimalist and artsy things

The dainty tea pot with an ancient charm or the colourfull vase with mosaic prints or the quirky shoe rack etc. add thought and meaning to your home. They tell a story and break the regular monotony of our lives. Also, get things that do not take up too much space or can be used for long. That way you also save space and have a sustainable lifestyle.

Share happy memories

You can share the best thing you picked up from every city you ever visited. Make a wall collage of family photos and decorate it with fairy lights. Get cards made of the most meaningful words you heard someone say on your best trip. In short, make your home, a reflection of the experiences of your life and values.
