Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Two years after the abrogation of Article 370, the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Valley, has improved considerably, said IG CRPF Charu Sinha. In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Sinha said fighting extremism is the biggest challenge in the sensitive Jammu and Kashmir. "Working here is different from the rest of the country. However, after the abrogation of Article 370, the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the Valley, has improved considerably," Sinha said.
Apart from militancy, the 1996 batch IPS officer said, there are various other issues that are being addressed separately. She said militancy has largely been controlled during the last two years and efforts are being made to control it further by adopting a new strategy. Further, asserting that the stone-pelting incidents have dropped significantly during the last two years, Sinha said the establishment of a law and order situation during these two years should be considered as a positive initiative and that the secret of development and prosperity lies in such an environment.
