Patna: A day after the Union Government told the Supreme Court that the caste census of Backward Classes is “administratively difficult and cumbersome", veteran politico and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav flayed the government, alleging apathy towards backward classes.
Lalu took on the government and the RSS by taking to Twitter on Friday.
"All animals, birds and plants including snakes, scorpions, parrots, elephants, horses, dogs, cats, pigs and jackals will be counted in the census but human beings from backward classes will not be counted. Why do BJP/RSS hate backward classes so much? Caste census will benefit all sections. Reality will come out," Lalu tweeted in Hindi.
In a submission to the apex court on Thursday, the Union government had said the exclusion of such information from the purview of census is a "conscious policy decision."
"BJP-RSS is deceiving the backward classes. If the central government cannot do the head count of more than 60 percent of the total population of the country by adding an additional column in the census form, then shame on such a government and the elected MPs and ministers of these sections. Boycott them," exhorted the septuagenarian president of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Bihar.
The government's submission in the court created a commotion in Bihar, especially among its political circles. The backward classes have been a very prominent section of the electorate in the state.
