New Delhi: The Supreme Court directed the Faridabad Municipal Corporation to accept the Aadhaar/family id from the Khori Gaon residents for their provisional allotment. The court said that the residents may have lost other documents during the demolition of their houses. Therefore their applications for provisional allotments shall be processed if accompanied by Aadhaar/family id. However, for final allotment, people would have to establish their eligibility, the court observed.
The bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a batch of pleas pertaining to the demolition of illegal houses in Khori Gaon which were built on Aravali forest land. It was also raised before the court that people do not have required documents and the eligibility criteria should be expanded. The apex court has also ordered the corporation to update its e-portal with all the information regarding the matter. The matter will be heard again on October 22.
The SC had last year given the residents time to vacate the forest land on their own but as they failed to do so, the court-ordered demolition and rehabilitation as per their eligibility. The Haryana government came up with a rehabilitation scheme in which people will be allotted houses constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.
It was on June 7 that the Supreme Court had ordered Haryana and Faridabad municipal corporations to remove around 10,000 residential constructions, in the Aravali forest area.
