Srinagar: The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) reiterated its demand for the restoration of Jammu & Kashmir's statehood and special status during a meeting of the alliance's at chairman Dr Farooq Abdullah's residence in Srinagar on Tuesday.
“The government is feeling proud in humiliating the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Voices are being muzzled, slanderous campaign is led against the political leaders. Outside officers are at the helm of affairs while local officers are being sidelined," Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami said.
He said that PAGD will continue to struggle for the restoration of special status and statehood as existed on August 4, 2019. Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami is the convenor and spokesperson of PAGD.
“We will raise the issue with the people of India, civil society, media houses and the Parliament of India. The humiliation must be stopped as it will have negative consequences in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

The alliance said that it will use all constitutional and political means to restore the special status. All the constituents of the alliance including Mehbooba Mufti, M Y Tarigami, Muzaffar Shah attended the meeting. Prominent district leaders were also invited to the meeting. The meeting was held despite the administration's curb amid Covid-19 pandemic.
The alliance, including six mainstream political parties, was formed for the restoration of Article 370, abrogated August 5, 2019, by the Centre. Recently, hovever, Sajad Lone's Peoples Conference parted ways with the alliance.
