Thiruvananthapuram: E Sreedharan, renowned as 'Metro Man', who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party has stirred Kerala politics.
Addressing the media, Sreedharan said that he is willing to contest the elections from whichever constituency the BJP would suggest. He also clarified that he would not join or participate in rallies and election campaigns. Sreedharan is not interested in Governor post.

Sreedharan said that he is joining the BJP with the hope of serving the nation. He clarified that nothing can be done by taking a neutral stand.
Reacting to the Metro Man’s entry to the ‘lotus track’, K Surendran, BJP State president said, more leaders from the CPM and the Congress are to join the BJP.
‘Vikasana Munnetta Jatha’ led by the Left Democratic Front across Kerala has started across different centres in Kerala.
The procession in northern regions would be led by A Vijayaraghavan, CPM State Secretary. Vijayaraghavan, who meets different media persons at each of the centres, continues to reiterate that the development in Kerala must be discussed.

However, Vijayaraghavan on Tuesday stated that minority communalism is the most intense form of communalism and his statement backlashed him. Though he had tried to clarify his statement soon thereafter, by then, it had already blown out into a controversy. Vijayaraghavan then denounced his statement. He said he meant to say that majority communalism is the most dangerous.
Meanwhile, K Sudhakaran, MP and Congress leader taunted the Chief Minister again. With CPM Rajya Sabha MP K K Ragesh also coming to the fore against Sudhakaran’s casteist insinuations and remarks, Sudhakaran’s derogatory and casteist insults would be discussed in the coming days.
It would be the first time that so many celebrities are involved and participating in the run-up to Kerala’s Assembly elections. Though a few film actors had contested and campaigned during the election period earlier, this time, many of them are actively involved in the events and meetings well in advance, including the rallies and processions prior to the poll campaigns.

Actor and comedian Dharmajan had met the media persons here at Kochi. Dharmajan said, there is no leftist collective in Malayalam cinema; there is only a rightist collective. This statement turned out to be a clear political declaration, not just on his entry into politics.
It is also to be noted that the CPM has not opined anything on more leaders joining the Opposition camps of the UDF and the BJP. The State capital faces the heat of the PSC rank holders’ protests.
During students’ protests on Thursday, the violence unleashed against the Police during the agitation and Police’s retaliation caused injuries to many. As the elections get closer, more and more protests and struggles are likely to be reported from different parts of Kerala.
