Karnataka election 2023: Congress accuses BJP of plotting to kill Mallikarjun Kharge, family

Congress party Saturday released an audio clip in which they identified one of the speakers as a BJP leader who is contesting from Chittapur constituency and the latter was heard allegedly saying that he would kill the Congress party chief Kharge and his family.

Bengaluru: Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala accused BJP leaders of hatching a plot to murder Mallikarjun Kharge and his family members. He shared an alleged audio clip identifying one of the speaker as a BJP candidate from Chittapur constituency as saying that he would have killed his family if he had his phone number.

"This is now clear from the recording of BJP's candidate from Chittapur who also happens to be the blue-eyed boy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai," Surjewala said.

Will PM Modi, Chief Minister Bommai own responsibility? Will Karnataka Police and the Election Commission act or will they stay “mute” on this sinister conspiracy to kill AICC President and his family. The 6.5 crore Kannadigas will certainly give a befitting reply to the sinister plot of the BJP, sharing the same clip Congress leader BV Srinivas tweeted.

"Meet Manikant Rathod, the BJP candidate from Chittapur constituency, who has over 40 criminal cases against him. He also happens to be the "blue-eyed boy" of PM Modi and CM Bommai. In this viral audio, the BJP leader can be heard saying- "Will wipe off Kharge's family" ,"Congress party's verified handle said in a Tweet.

The Congress party also reeled out the list of pending criminal cases against the BJP candidate. The list includes- attempt to murder, illegal transportation of Anna Bhagya rice, drugs and narcotics smuggling, illegal possession of fire arms and criminal intimidation. "It is evident that the BJP operates on the politics of hate," the party said.

"Facing imminent defeat in the Karnataka elections, the 40% commission govt has touched a new low by plotting to kill the entire family of our honourable party President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge. This is not an attack on Shri Mallikarjun Kharge but on the honour and life of every Kannadiga!" it further wrote in the post sharing the audio clip between Manikant Rathod and another person.
