New Delhi: Hours after Kanhaiya Kumar, former JNU leader and member of national executive council of Communist Party of India (CPI) joined Indian National Congress, Bihar Congress President Madan Mohan Jha welcomed Kanhaiya's step into the party stating that he is connected to youth and will strengthen the party more.
Jha further said, "We welcome Kanhaiya who has joined the party after getting approval from party President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. As per my concern, I will give my all possible support to him in Bihar."
BJP took a jibe at Congress stating that "Kanahiya, who had raised a slogan of 'Bharat ke tukde honge' during a campaign in JNU in the national capital, has now joined the Congress. With this now the tukde tukde gang has merged with Congress".
In a befitting reply to the BJP's statement, Jha said that the saffron party should not be rhetoric. "If a person of any character joins BJP then the party keeps quiet but if anyone joins Congress the party declared them of bad character."
Kanhaiya was accused of not respecting the party leader while he was in CPI and was not contributing to the development of the party. A year ago a censure motion was also passed against him in the National Committee of CPI. So will Congress accept his behaviour, if he followed the same with Congress?
Responding to this question Jha said Kumar's behaviour in Congress will be good and he will work for the development of the party.
