Sangli: A court in Sangli court has sentenced a juvenile to 12 years in prison for raping and murdering a minor girl.
This incident took place at Tung in Miraj Taluka on May 20, 2020. The juvenile accused has been sentenced to hard labor.
Last year on May 20, the minor girl from Tung in Miraj Taluka went missing. After the girl's father lodged a complaint at the Miraj Rural Police, her body was found during a search operation on May 21.
Following an investigation into the death, it was revealed that the suspect played with her on May 20. He was later was taken into custody and interrogated.

The boy confessed to the police that he took the girl to a sugar cane field in the village, shot her 'pornographic' visual and raped her. He further said that he choked the girl to death.
Based on the statement of 15 witnesses, the District Sessions Court convicted the accused and sentenced the boy to 12 years of hard labor.
Arvind Deshmukh was the public prosecutor in the case.
The suspect was 16 years and 8 months old at the time of his arrest in the case which was proceeded in a special court as per the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
