Hyderabad: Junior doctors in Telangana state have called off their strike considering the needs of the public, according to Junior Doctors Association. Doctors on Wednesday held protests and boycotted non-emergency services insisting on their demands including a hike in stipend.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said it was not the right time to hold a protest and boycott duties, and advised junior doctors to return to work immediately.

During a Covid review meeting, Rao said the government never discriminated against junior doctors and it is still trying to resolve their problems. He also said it has been decided that honorarium given to senior residents would be increased by 15 per cent and the senior residents' honorarium would be extended to post graduate medical students who are engaged in Covid-19 duties.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials concerned to take measures so that the ex-gratia being extended as per the guidelines should be handed over immediately as per the junior doctors’ demand.
