Jharkhand: HEC to be revived soon, says Union minister

BJP MP Sanjay Seth has said that Union Minister of Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey assured him of rendering all possible help to revive the Ranchi-based ailing PSU Heavy Engineering Corporation.

New Delhi: The Ranchi-based Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), which has been ailing for a long time now, will soon be revived, Union Minister of Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey has assured BJP MP from the Jharkhand capital and senior party leader Sanjay Seth.

“I have met the Union Minister of Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey and explained to him the current problem,” Seth told ETV Bharat. “He listened carefully to my words and assured of all possible help. The Union Minister has said that HEC Ranchi will be revived soon.”

According to Seth, the problem of non-payment of wages to the workers of the company persists. The plants have not been modernised due to which operations keep getting affected.

He said that the temporary workers who have been working for years have not been made permanent. The process of pay revision has been pending since 2017 and a permanent CMD has not been appointed.

Stating that the livelihood of thousands of families is dependent on HEC, Seth said that it is very important to take care of those families. HEC was once Asia's largest enterprise in the field of heavy machinery manufacturing.

This public sector unit manufactures and supplies capital equipment and machinery to steel, mining, railway, power, defence, space research and nuclear sectors.
