Jharkhand: Angry crowd beats up drunk policeman

A policeman in Ranchi created a ruckus at a public square, beating passers-by and indulging in obscene acts in front of women. The local people then gave him a sound thrashing. On getting to know about the incident, the SSP Ranchi immediately suspended the policeman.

Ranchi: Videos of drunk policemen often come to the fore but in Ranchi one policeman exceeded all limits while intoxicated and was soundly thrashed by local people.

Harnius Dungdung, a jawan of PCR Forest, created a ruckus at the Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi Monday night while in an inebriated state. He physically assaulted passers-by and indulged in obscene acts in front of women selling fruits at the square. When people tried to stop him, he got into a scuffle with them following which he was given a sound thrashing. Many people kicked him after he fell on the ground and the commotion continued till late night.

When the Kotwali police got information about the incident, they reached the spot and saved the jawan from the hands of the crowd and took him to the police station. There too he continued to create a ruckus following which the police confiscated the pistol and bullets allotted to him.

Station-in-charge Shailesh Kumar then informed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Ranchi Surendra Kumar Jha who then immediately suspended Dungdung.
