Shopian: An Army Major who was injured in an accidental firing at a military camp in the Chogm area of Shopian district of south Kashmir, succumbed to his wounds.
The deceased, Major Mayank Vishnoi of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles was injured when his rifle went off accidentally at the military camp on August 27.
The Major was immediately rushed to 92 Base hospital at Badmi Bagh in Srinagar for immediate treatment. He was subsequently shifted to Command Hospital at Adhampur, where he died on Saturday.
An investigation into the matter is underway.
