On political parties objecting to Uttar Pradesh Population Policy 2021-2030, Sinha said that those who are finding fault with it are looking at this policy from a religious angle which is unfair.

The BJP MP said that the parties objecting to population policy are trying to give it a communal colour which is wrong. Notably, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh has introduced a new population policy where any couple who would follow the two-child policy will receive perks from the government and will be able to avail all government welfare schemes.

The Central government is likely to discuss this policy in the monsoon session on August 6. Meanwhile, it has also been reported that couples having only one child will also be rewarded, to which RSS has objected. Giving his reaction over this, Sinha said that as far as his proposed policy is concerned, there was no provision of rewarding couples with one child. He also said that the concerns of RSS over this issue should be addressed and proper amendments in the policy should be made.

On being asked about his views over Nitish Kumar's statement on the new UP population policy, Sinha said that Nitish did not say anything wrong but there is a need to make people more aware of population control. He said that making laws and creating awareness over population growth must go hand in hand.

Taking a jibe at the new population control policy of the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that it is not possible to ensure population control with the law but if women are educated then the fertility rate will fall automatically. When women are aware and educated, the population growth rate will reduce and this will affect all communities, he added.
