New Delhi: Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday took stock of the law and order situation of Delhi, a day after an IED blast was reported near the Israeli embassy in the national capital.

Sources said that Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Arvind Kumar, Delhi police chief S Srivastava, Director General of National Security Guard (NSG) Surjeet Singh Deswal and other senior officials were present in the meeting.

Another meeting is likely to take place under the chairmanship of Home Minister Amit Shah later in the evening. Sources said that the meeting that took place at North Block reviewed the chronology of the blasts that took place hardly two kilometres away from the Prime Minister's residence.

IB chief Kumar reportedly briefed the meeting that security agencies are trying to find out the organisation or people behind the blasts.

However, an organisation named Jaish-Ul-Hind has claimed responsibility of the attack and security agencies are trying to verify the claim. The security agencies are also exploring the possibility of the involvement of any Iranian organisation in the blast.

In a similar blast in 2012 near the Israeli embassy, security agencies had arrested three people with Iranian connections. Few people including embassy officials were injured in the incident.

"Following Friday's blast, we are yet to ascertain the organisation or group responsible for the incident. Even Israel has not officially claimed any Iranian involvement in the blasts," said a senior official on condition of anonymity.

He said that only after a proper investigation, the details will come out.

Meanwhile, Israeli intelligence agency Mosaad has also started a separate investigation into the incident. India's National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and the special cell of Delhi police have also been investigating into the incident.

Earlier in the day, top officials of the NIA reviewed the incident and asked officials to verify any possible involvement of any other active terrorist organisation. Sources said that the Home Ministry is likely to hand over the case to NIA.
