New Delhi: India's mass inoculation exercise against Covid-19 has achieved a new milestone by overtaking the United States, as per Union Health Ministry. A total of 32,36,63,297 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered to Indian citizens while the United States has achieved a target of 32,33,27,328 doses.

“India achieves another milestone in #COVID19 vaccination and overtakes USA in total number of #CovidVaccine doses administered,” the Health Ministry said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, reports said, India's vaccination proportion stands at 4 per cent of its population as per Our World in Data. 46.5% of the adults in the US have been fully vaccinated so far. Inoculation drive in India began on January 16 while the US started it on December 8, as per reports.

Reports also said over 7 crore doses of vaccines have been administered in the United Kingdom, Germany, over 4 lakh doses in Italy, and France has administered over 5 lakh doses. The Union Health Ministry also said more than 1.15 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines are available with states and union territories.

As per reports, there are specifically 1,15,22,543 vaccine doses with states and UTs. Till now, more than 31.69 crores free vaccine doses have been provided by the Centre to states via direct state procurement category, as per reports. The number of Covid-19 cases reported last day was 46,148, while the number of active cases declined to 5,72,994, as per reports.
