Hyderabad: Around 85% of the new Coronavirus cases have been reported from eight states - Maharashtra (39544), Chattisgarh (4563), Karnataka (4225), Punjab (2944), Kerala (2653), Tamil Nadu (2579), Gujarat (2360) and Madhya Pradesh (2332).
At present, the total active cases in India has touched 5,84,055, comprising 4.78% of the country's total positive cases. Maharashtra has been the state where the highest number of cases have been reported and accounts for over 61% of the active caseload.

It may be noted that Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh and Punjab account for 78.9% of the total active cases pan India.
While Maharashtra alone accounts for over 61% of the active caseload in the country. Six states account for 83.01% of the new deaths with Maharashtra having recorded a death toll of 227 and Punjab 55 deaths.

On the other hand, fifteen States/UTs have not reported any COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours. These are Chandigarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Ladakh (UT), Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Puducherry, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland, Lakshadweep, Meghalaya, Mizoram, A&N Islands and Arunachal Pradesh.
Total Vaccination States Wise
India’s total recoveries now stand at 1,14,74,683 as of Thursday, as the national recovery rate stands at 93.89%. Total vaccination as on 1st April 2021 is 6,51,17,896.

Maharashtra (62,09,337), Rajasthan (57,21,312), Gujarat (57,00,174), Uttar Pradesh (53,98,684), West Bengal (52,30,166), Karnataka (38,11,007), Kerala (34,01,918), Madhya Pradesh (33,56,666), Tamil Nadu (30,31,631), Bihar (28,34,138), Andhra Pradesh (26,05,169), Odisha (24,11,021), Chattisgarh (19,42,105), Telangana (12,95,814) and Punjab (8,42,448).
States with a low share of RT PCR
Telangana, Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam, Chattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Jharkhand, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Puducherry and Union Territories have recorded a low percentage of 50% in RT PCR test.

If we look at the 3rd phase of vaccination - people aged between 45 and 60 years have been advised to take the COVID-19 vaccines beginning 1st April 2021.

Over 6.5 Crore (6,51,17,896) vaccine doses were administered through 10,86,241 sessions as mentioned in the provisional report obtained on Thursday at 7 AM.
Hotspots in the month of April
The gathering of a large number of devotees for the Kumbh Mela could also cause a spike in the already increasing COVID-19 cases.
Also, the Assembly elections in five states of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry, Assam may lead to a surge in the Corona cases.
