Indian Railways registers highest ever single-day oxygen loading

Amid high demands of live-saving gas across the country, Indian Railways registered its highest-ever single day load of 718 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO), carried by 41 tankers. So far, Indian Railways has delivered nearly 3400 MT of LMO in more than 220 tankers to various states across the country.

New Delhi: Indian Railways on Saturday marks a record of highest-ever single day load of 718 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO), carried by 41 tankers which are currently on run.

In states, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana also recorded the highest single-day load where "Oxygen Expresses" with 222 MT and 180 MT LMO respectively, will soon reach their destinations.

An Oxygen Express from Hapa in Gujarat departed at 04:45 hours, on Saturday, to deliver 129.86 MT of LMO.

Out of the 6 tankers, 4 tankers will be given to Uttar Pradesh, carrying 85.14 MT of LMO. The other 2 tankers with 44.72 MT of oxygen will be sent to Delhi Cantonment.

Another train from Rourkela is en route to Faridabad carrying 7 tankers of 82.71 MT of oxygen.

Meanwhile, Kanpur is going to get its first Oxygen Express carrying 80 MT of LMO. The train departed from Durgapur, West Bengal, at 16:35 hours on Saturday.

So far, Indian Railways has delivered nearly 3400 MT of LMO in more than 220 tankers to various states across the country.

Till now, 230 MT has been offloaded in Maharashtra, 968 MT in UP, 249 MT in MP, 355 MT in Haryana, 123 MT in Telangana, 40 MT in Rajasthan and 1427 MT in Delhi.

More loaded Oxygen Expresses are expected to start their journeys later in the night, Railways added.
