New Delhi: India on Saturday once again summoned Charge d’ Affaires of Pakistan High Commission and lodged a strong protest over the Nagrota encounter after it emerged that Jasih-e-Mohammad terrorists killed in the encounter were planning a big terror operation on the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

Raising the issue of cross-border terrorism, India conveyed strong concern to Pakistan, over terror attack planned by JeM in J&K.

India lodged a strong protest demanding that Pakistan stops supporting terrorists and terror groups operating from their territory and dismantle the terrorism infrastructure, sources in the MEA said.

The government of India is firm and resolute in taking all necessary measures to safeguard its national security in the fight against terrorism, the MEA added.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting with top security officials including Foreign Secretary Harsh Shrinla in the wake of the killing of four JeM terrorists in Nagrota. The PM said security forces thwarted efforts of the terrorists to wreak havoc and destruction in J&K.

Following the meeting, in his tweets, Modi said, “Neutralising of 4 terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad and the presence of large cache of weapons and explosives with time indicate that their efforts to wreak major havoc and destruction have once again been thwarted”.

Further hailing the security forces, PM Modi said they have once again displayed utmost bravery and professionalism.

“Thanks to their alertness, they have defeated a nefarious plot to target grassroots level democratic exercises in Jammu and Kashmir”, the prime minister added.

According to sources, four suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, who were on their way to Kashmir in a truck, were killed in an encounter with security forces on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Nagrota on Thursday early morning. Two policemen were injured during the gunfight.

The police had said that the terrorists were "planning a big attack" and that they were headed towards the Kashmir valley.

The encounter started at around 5 am after the truck in which terrorists were travelling was intercepted by security forces personnel near the Ban toll plaza in Nagrota, on the outskirts of Jammu city. It was learnt that the forces had recovered a huge cache of ammunition from the truck in which the terrorists were travelling.

The Ministry had also summoned a Pakistani envoy on November 14 and lodged a strong protest over the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces on multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K on Nov 13, resulting in the death of four innocent civilians and serious injuries to 19 others.

In a statement, the MEA had said India also condemned, in the strongest terms, the “deliberate targeting” of innocent civilians by Pakistani forces, saying it was highly deplorable that Pakistan chose a festive occasion in India to disrupt peace and perpetrate violence in J&K through coordinated firing along the LoC.
