COVID-19: India's vaccination coverage crosses 94 cr doses, active cases lowest in 206 days

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 94 crore doses, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. Over 79.12 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours. The active caseload stands at 2,36,643, the lowest in 206 days and comprises 0.70 per cent of the total positive cases.

Hyderabad: With the administration of 79,12,202 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 94 crore (93,99,15,323) doses, the Union Health Ministry on Saturday.

A single-day rise of 19,740 infections and 248 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 3,39,35,309 cases and 4,50,375 deaths, said the data updated by the ministry. The active caseload stands at 2,36,643, the lowest in 206 days and comprises 0.70 per cent of the total positive cases, it further said.

The recovery of 23,070 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,32,48,291, the data showed.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.62 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 106 days now. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.56 per cent, it said.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 58 crore samples were tested up to October 8, of which 13,85,706 samples were tested on Friday.
