India records 45,083 fresh COVID cases, 460 deaths

India reported 45,083 cases and 460 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health ministry. The active caseload stands at 3,68,558 while the national recovery rate is currently at 97.53.

Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 45,083 Covid-19 infections, 460 fatalities push India's tally of cases to 3,26,95,030 and death toll to 4,37,830, as per the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload stands at 3,68,558 while the national recovery rate is currently at 97.53, according to the data updated at 8 am on Sunday. The statistics show Kerala recorded 31,265 COVID positive cases and 153 deaths in the last 24 hours.

India's cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 63 crore doses, the ministry said on Saturday. "In a significant achievement, India's COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 63 Crore (63,00,67,629) landmark milestone as per the 7 pm provisional report today," reads the release. The release said more than 65 lakh (65,39,745) vaccine doses were administered on Saturday as per the 7 PM provisional report.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 51,86,42,929 samples have been tested up to August 28 for COVID-19. Of these, 17,55,327 samples were tested on Saturday. As many as 35,840 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,18,88,642.
