India records 38,949 fresh COVID-19 cases, 542 deaths in 24 hrs

India reported 38,949 new COVID-19 cases, 40,026 recoveries, & 542 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad: India reported 38,949 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry at 8 am on Friday showed. The COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 4,12,531 with 542 fresh fatalities. According to the Health ministry, India's COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 97.28 per cent and active cases constitute 1.39 per cent of total cases. The overall tally of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,10,26,829. There are 4,30,422 active cases at present.

A total of 40,026 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 3,01,83,876 till date. The Ministry said that a total of 39,53,43,767 people have been vaccinated so far in the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 44,00,23,239 samples have been tested up to July 15 for Covid-19. Of these 19,55,910 samples were tested on Thursday.
