Important national events to look for today

Counting of votes to the legislative assemblies of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and the union territory of Puducherry will begin at 8 am. Amid the surge in a number of Coronavirus cases, the SC has allowed counting of votes of UP Panchayat elections while following all COVID-19 protocols.

1. Assembly elections results: Counting of votes in 4 states, Puducherry today

The counting of votes will begin on Sunday for the high-stakes assembly polls in four states- Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the union territory of Puducherry. All necessary arrangements have been made by the Election Commission for counting which will begin at 8 am across counting centres.

2. SC allows May 2 vote-counting of UP Panchayat Elections

The Supreme Court of India (SC) has allowed the vote-counting exercise of the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections. The SC has taken into note the assurance given by the State Election Commission that sufficient measures will be taken to ensure that the COVID protocol is followed at counting centres.
