A 'Tika Utsav' or vaccine festival will be marked in the country during April 11-14 at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an aim to inoculate a maximum number of eligible people against the coronavirus. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold six public programs in West Bengal today. Here is a heads-up of the important national events to look for today.

1. 'Tika Utsav' from today

A 'Tika Utsav' or vaccine festival will be marked in the country from April 11-14 at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an aim to inoculate a maximum number of eligible people against the coronavirus amid a surge in cases. Several states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are gearing up with appeals being made to eligible people to get themselves vaccinated during the 'Tika Utsav'.

2. Maharashtra CM to meet task force before deciding on lockdown

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday indicated the imposition of lockdown in the state and that he will hold a meeting with the task force on Sunday before taking a decision. The Chief Minister, who convened an all-party meeting on the coronavirus pandemic, said the first priority is to save lives.

3. Amit Shah to hold 6 public programs in West Bengal today

Ahead of West Bengal's phase V elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold six public programs in the state on Sunday. Polling for the fourth phase of the tightly-contested West Bengal Assembly elections ended on Saturday evening with a voter turnout of 76.16 per cent.

4. IPL 2021: SunRisers Hyderabad Vs Kolkata Knight Riders

With pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar back in their ranks, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday night. The Hyderabad franchise, though more powerful and well-rounded and having qualified for play-offs last year, have an inferior head-to-head record against their Kolkata counterparts.
