1, Farmer unions to take decision on further talks today
Samyukt Kisan Morcha, a joint front of farmer unions will take a final decision today on whether to join further talks with the govt over the three farm laws. Farmer leaders are of the opinion that the government had selected eight issues that it was now trying to claim were the main issues. They also took exception to the language used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wherein he has said that “no one could stop him” from going ahead with the reforms.
2, First phase of Gram Panchayat polls in Karnataka today
The first phase of voting for the Gram Panchayat polls in Karnataka will be held from 7 am to 5 pm in over 23,000 booths today.
A total of 3,019 panchayats in 117 taluks across Karnataka will go for polling in the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections, poll officials said.
3, J&K DDC poll results to be out today
Results for the eight-phased District Development Council (DDC) elections that concluded on December 19 will be out today. Counting of votes will begin at 9 am and will take place in district headquarters.
4, Manish Sisodia to launch AAP’s ‘UP mission 2022’ in Lucknow
Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia will visit Uttar Pradesh’s capital city, Lucknow, to officially launch the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) campaign for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. Sisodia will be the first high-profile AAP leader to visit the state after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which the party lost.
5, PM Modi to address AMU’s centenary celebrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University today at 11 am via video conferencing. Prime Minister Modi will also release a postal stamp during the event, PMO said. Chancellor of the University Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin and Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will also be present on the occasion.
