New Delhi: As the Cabinet expansion in the Central government is on the cards, the Congress party, on Wednesday, said that if performance and governance are the criteria then Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be sacked first. Speaking on the issue, Congress Chief Spokesperson and General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be the first person to be sacked as he has brought the country to a standstill. Peace and harmony have been thrown into the dustbin of history."

Calling the Cabinet rejig an "eyewash", Surjewala said, "This is a defector's adjustment exercise." Apart from PM Modi, Surjewala named several ministers demanding their removal from the Cabinet, claiming that they have "failed" to perform well. "First, sack the Defence Minister because China encroached on our land. Sack the Home Minister, due to whose failure extremism and Naxalism are spreading, custodial deaths and mob lynching have become common," Surjewala said.
