Lucknow: On August 10, 2017, 63 children died due to lack of oxygen at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Four years have passed since this tragedy. In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, Dr Kafeel Khan, who was declared the main accused in this case, spoke on various aspects related to the said case.

"During this time, however, several serious cases were registered against me," he said. However, the court acquitted him.

He said that in recent days, the Uttar Pradesh government has withdrawn its re-investigation of the matter. This is an incomplete victory for us. He said that his struggle will continue till the government acknowledges its negligence and corruption.

Referring to his suspension, he said that many people have been rehabilitated in this case. But why am I not recovering? Only the Chief Minister can say.

He said that suspension of any government employee could not be done for more than two years. "I have been suspended for four years which is against the law. We have also challenged this issue in court."

Referring to the meeting of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, he said, "I am grateful to her for helping me after my release from jail." "I am a doctor and I want to be a doctor," he added. He also said that he has no intention of joining politics.

Quoting the Aligarh District Magistrate, Khan said that the High Court had categorically said that the NSA's action was baseless and that his speech was about to unite the country and there was nothing objectionable in it.
