Hyderabad: In a crucial decision, the Telangana government on Saturday directed the Government ENT Hospital in Koti here to set up a nodal centre to treat cases of black fungus. COVID-19 patients infected with black fungus will be treated at Gandhi Medical College & Hospital.
The government directed doctors that if patients infected with black fungus suffer from eye problems, they can be referred to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital. It asked the superintendents of Gandhi, Sarojini Devi and Koti ENT hospitals to work in coordination.

The government also directed the Telangana State Medical Services & Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) to provide necessary medicines for the treatment of black fungus. Private hospitals have been ordered to treat patients infected with both black fungus and COVID-19 simultaneously. It advised the doctors to ensure that steroids, antibiotics and antifungal medications are administered at the right time to the patients and keep their sugar levels under control.
Doctors have been told to use only Sterile water during the oxygen therapy.
