New Delhi: On the issue of human rights, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday said human rights are not just a matter of a particular community but are global.
International Human Rights Day is observed on 10 December worldwide and on this occasion, for the first time, an event was organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad in which VHP CEO Alok Kumar, VHP Foreign Minister General Secretary Prashant Hartalkar, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and National Human Rights Commission member Jyothika Arora were present.
Speaking to ETV Bharat after the event, VHP CEO Alok Kumar said," On the subject of human rights, we speak of partiality with great sadness. This year, Afghanistan was completely annihilated by the Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist communities, but there was no voice in the international community on this matter. No one condemned Afghanistan, while incidents in connection with Akhlaq and Graham Staines are frequently raised."
"Those were unfortunate incidents but why not worry about what happens to Hindus in Afghanistan and Bangladesh? That is why it is very important that human rights violations be weighed in one scale," Kumar said.
Speaking about the political violence in West Bengal, Kumar said, "Whatever is happening in Bengal is a matter of great concern and in such a situation, the central government should take action."
Talking about the Hindu refugee of Pakistan or the issue of atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh, VHP Foreign Department General Secretary Prashant Hartalkar said," The VHP has been working for the human rights of the people for a long time. The VHP has been continuously raising these topics."
He urged the Modi government to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act soon so that thousands of Hindu refugees living in these countries can get citizenship of India.
