Hindu temple vandalized allegedly by pro-Khalistani supporters in Australia's Sydney

The management of the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Western Sydney’s Rosehill suburb said that in the early hours of Friday morning, they found the front wall of the temple vandalised with graffiti reading 'Declare Modi (PM) terrorist” and a Khalistani flag hanging on the gate.

Hyderabad: In yet another attack on a Hindu temple allegedly by por-Khalistani elements in Australia, a temple in Sydney in Western Australia was vandalised by the radical Sikh elements, sources said. It is learnt that the incident has taken place Western Sydney’s Rosehill suburb. Sources said that the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in the area has been vandalised by Khalistan supporters.

According to local media reports, the management of the temple said that the early hours of Friday morning, they found the front wall of the temple vandalised with graffiti reading 'Declare Modi (PM) terrorist” and a Khalistani flag hanging on the gate. The temple management accordingly reported the matter to the local police after which an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Significantly, there has been a series of attacks on the temples in Australia since the beginning of this year. The attacks have been allegedly carried out by the pro-Khalistan supporters. It can be recalled that on Jan. 12 this year, the pro-Khalistan supporters allegedly vandalized the Swaminarayan temple in Australia's Melbourne with anti-India graffiti.

Similar attacks were reported at the historic Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs, Victoria, ISCKON temple in Melbourne’s Albert Park and Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple in Australia's Brisbane on Jan. 16, Jan. 23 and in March this year respectively. In Feb. this year, ahead of the Hindu festival of Shivratri, a prominent Hindu temple in Australia received threatening calls by the pro-Khalistani supporters.

According to local media reports, in the purported threat calls, the caller asked the management to raise pro-Khalistani slogans “if it wanted to observe Maha Shivratri peacefully” which was celebrated on Feb. 18. Hindus living in Australia have expressed concern over the repeated attacks on the temples in the country.
