Dharwad: BJP MLA Aravind Bellad had a tongue-in-cheek moment as he attributed the high fuel prices to "Taliban".
"The voters will understand the issue. Taliban has captured Afghanistan, and the fuel and gas prices in the international market have shot up because there is a supply problem. The voters know this. It will not affect the share of votes in today's polls," he told reporters as polling was underway for the municipal election.
On August 19, Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Ramratan Payal told a journalist to “go to Taliban” because fuel was available for Rs 50 in Afghanistan.
Petrol prices breached the Rs 100 per litre-mark in several cities in July. After hitting a record on July 17, the prices have dropped marginally.

Bellad further said the people vote for development and that the BJP will win 55-60 seats in the municipal elections and bring the BJP back to power.
