Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday sounded an orange alert for Mumbai following which three teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were shifted from Pune to the country's financial capital as a precautionary measure. Heavy overnight rain lashed Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) hitting road and rail traffic. Alike every year, parts of Dadar, Parel, Wadala, Sion were water-logged while low-lying areas in Malad, Santacruz, Dahisar, too, were inundated.
On Friday morning, meteorological experts shared satellite images indicating intense clouds over Mumbai suburbs and Thane indicating very intense spells.

The entire North Konkan area comprising the twin districts of Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban, neighbouring districts of Palghar, Thane and Raigad which comprise the MMR is receiving heavy rainfall. "Moderate rain in city and suburbs with possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places," the official handle of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) tweeted.
