Surat (Gujarat): US Government Consul General David J. Ranz is on an 8-day visit to Gujarat. On the first day, he visited several places in Surat. He also held a discussion with Aam Aadmi Party state president Gopal Italia about his party. Inviting AAP leader, Consul General David J. Ranz showed that he is interested in Gujarat politics.

The Consul General kicked off his 8-day visit to Gujarat in style, arriving in Surat via train. After arriving, he had a meeting with office-bearers including the Mayor Municipal Commissioner, Banchhanidhi Pani at the Surat Municipal Corporation office. He learned about the city's efforts to use green technology and how the US companies can contribute towards creating a more eco-friendly and sustainable community, tweeted the US Consulate Mumbai.

The Consul General also visited Kiran James Diamond Company of Surat and also collected all the information about how rough diamonds are cut and polished in Surat. The US Consul General David J. Ranz specially invited the state President of Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party, Gopal Italia. Regarding his meeting, Gopal Italia said that they discussed the party's emergence in the state and its recent success. He further said that AAP is being noticed in Gujarat as well as in the country and in every corner of the world. The governments of other countries of the world are also taking note of the politics of education, health, electricity and employment of the Aam Aadmi Party.

After Surat, the US Consul General will visit Kevadia, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad to meet with government, academic, business, cultural, and civil society leaders to advance the US India Partnership in Gujarat. The US Consul General was also scheduled to meet BJP state president C.R. Patil but the program was cancelled due to the new CM's swearing-in ceremony.

Political expert Pala Varu informed ETV Bharat that the way the Aam Aadmi Party is working at the ground level in Gujarat, it will be a challenge in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and beyond. At present, Aam Aadmi Party workers are working hard to make all rallies and public gatherings a success, even at the expense of their own pocket. Seeing that its campaign is spreading fast, starting from social media networks as well as increasing publicity by travelling from village to village, the Aam Aadmi Party has achieved success in Gujarat in a very short time, so that anyone interested should do research.

Pala Varu further added that if AAP wins in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, it is certain that it will do better in the 2022 Assembly Poll. Thus, the Aam Aadmi Party's success will hurt Congress the most, as 80 per cent of those who join AAP are Congressmen, 10 per cent are neutrals and the remaining 10 per cent are BJP workers. This means that the Aam Aadmi Party's propaganda is as aggressive as the BJP's. It can be said that the people of Gujarat also want change.
