New Delhi: As the farmers’ agitation against the three contentious farm laws entered day 26 on Monday, the ongoing deadlock seems inconclusive again. The government wants to reach a solution on this issue before 2021 and the ruling party BJP is trying for it in all possible ways.
While the Centre sent out an invite to the farmers’ unions to join the discussion with the government again, farmers' organization have threatened to intensify their stir for a long time.
Meanwhile, protesting farmers have announced that they will organise a day-long relay hunger strike and block all toll collection on the national highways in Haryana from December 25-27.
Thousands of farmers, especially from Punjab and Haryana, have been protesting at Delhi borders for more than three weeks. Several protesting leaders have threatened to step up their agitation and have said that they are prepared to celebrate the Republic Day next year with their own tractor rally on Delhi borders.
If sources are to be believed, the Central Government also wants to resolve this issue before the beginning of 2021. So that the opposition parties in the election of West Bengal do not get into the electoral fray by making this issue the main issue against the Center.
Speaking in this regard, BJP National Spokesperson, Gopal Krishna Agrawal said," We assure all, including our NDA partners that farmers’ well-being and welfare are in our heart. Large scale market reforms are needed and that has always been the consensus. Farmers have been given permission to protest and also been invited for dialogue. We are open for all discussions on the merits or demerits of the three bills."
"These three laws are very important for the upliftment and development of the agricultural sector. Some dilemmas are on the APMC and MSP of the farmers and the government has made it clear that it is not dismantling the APMC but alternative efforts are being made for it. And there will be no tampering with it," he said.
"But if the farmers have any complaint related to this and there is any confusion on contract farming, then the government is ready to listen to them and is also ready for change. But the government in no mood to dismantling MSP system. The government understands the problem of farmers and is taking decisions according to the constitution," he added.
