Surat: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant participated in a 7-km long Dandi march in Surat, kick-started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 15. Modi launched 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' to mark 75 years of India''s Independence.
"I am honoured to be a part of 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I hope that this Dandi march will send a message of non-violence and patriotism across the country," he told ETV Bharat, adding that this journey is on the lines of Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi march started in 1930.

"India is on its path to become world leader under the vision and leadership of PM Modi. India has set an example by providing COVID-19 vaccines to its neighbouring countries during the pandemic crisis," Sawant added.
Asked about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement on NRC implementation in Assam, he said that India is known for unity in diversity.

Sawant also said that Bengal is going to witness a change after assembly elections and BJP will make every effort to make it 'Sonar Bangla'.
The padayatra was being undertaken by 81 marchers from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari, a journey of 386 km. The march will end after 25 days, on April 5.
