New Delhi: Making big inroads in Hyderabad, the BJP won 48 seats in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls and the saffron party seems to have managed to impress upon many voters.

In 2009, the BJP had won 6 wards in the GHMC elections. However, in 2016, the BJP was in an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party and had won only four wards. But in this election, the high-pitched election campaign of the BJP seems to have paid rich dividends to the party.

Speaking to ETV Bharat in this regard, BJP National spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal said, "The result of the Bharatiya Janata Party in GHMC polls has become very encouraging. For a long time, we are trying to form our government in South India and this is an important result in the move towards that. After Karnataka, Telangana is a very important phase for us and Hyderabad signifies that the dominance of the Bharatiya Janata Party in South India is going to grow even further."

"Amit Shah had already said that after Bengal, we consider Kerala as an important place. According to ideology, because the Naxalite thinking of Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, which went from Tripura to communist, is coming to an end. Gradually, the way communists in Kerala are harassing our workers and killing people is the last place of communists and we aim to eliminate them too," Agarwal said.

Apart from this, he also claimed that elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu next year and the Bharatiya Janata Party will definitely increase its dominance in it. It is the goal of the party to achieve the edge.

"So far, the situation which has come out in the election of Hyderabad, we are in no hurry to immediately take over the power. Looking at the present situation there, we do not think that there is any justification for politics in any coalition there. But this decision has to be taken by the central leadership but as of now no such thing seems to be the situation," he added.
