New Delhi: Amid speculations of Captain Amarinder Singh joining ranks of the BJP, the former Punjab Chief Minister arrived at the Union Minister Amit Shah's residence on Wednesday evening. The meeting lasted nearly 50 minutes. The Captain's media team which tweeted the image of the meeting with the union minister attempted to keep the meeting apolitical.

"Met Union Home Minister @AmitShah in Delhi. Discussed the prolonged farmers’ agitation against #FarmLaws & urged him to resolve the crisis urgently with repeal of the laws & guarantee MSP, besides supporting Punjab in crop diversification’: @capt_amarinder," the tweet said quoting the former CM.

It also did not reveal much about the next political move of the Captain. Late into the night, a similar tweet was put out from the official handle of the former CM as well.

Intriguingly, Singh was not seen in the vehicle coming out of the main entrance. It is speculated that he left through another gate to avoid the media glare.

Captain Amarinder Singh reached Delhi on Tuesday afternoon and talks were rife ever since about his meeting with Amit Shah. After stepping down as Chief Minister following a bitter feud with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Captain Amarinder Singh reached Delhi from Chandigarh. It was speculated that he would join BJP. When asked about the possibility, Singh said earlier that he could consult with his supporters and decide the future course of action.

But the media advisor of Captain Amarinder Singh, Raveen Thukral tweeted on Tuesday that Singh was on a personal visit to meet his friends and he was also there to vacate Kapurthala house for the new CM. There is no need for any unnecessary speculation, he had mentioned in the tweet.

Under these circumstances, Captain Amarinder Singh has arrived at Shah's residence to meet the latter.

Captain Amarinder Singh tendered his resignation on Sept. 18 after his tiff with Congress PCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu. He felt humiliated, he told media persons then. Sikh-Dalit leader Charanjit Singh Channi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Punjab.

In a dramatic turn of events in Punjab Congress, Sidhu resigned on Tuesday. Following his resignation, six leaders submitted their resignations on Tuesday. The last resignation was from Punjab Congress General Secretary Gautam Seth. Earlier, Congress General Secretary Yoginder Dhindsa, cabinet ministers Pargat Singh and Razia Sultana, as well as PPCC treasurer Gulzar Inder Chahal had tendered their resignations.

The Congress high command, however, rejected Sidhu's resignation. Captain Singh commenting on the debacle stated that he is not a stable man and not fit for the border state of Punjab.
