New Delhi: Former J&K National Conference (JKNC) leaders Devender Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia joined the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. Both the leaders had resigned from the National Conference on Sunday.
Rana and Slathia joined BJP at its headquarters in the presence of Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Jitendra Singh. BJP general secretary in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh and its Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina also were present.

Rana, a former MLA and NC's prominent face in Jammu, served as a political advisor to Omar Abdullah when the latter was chief minister of J&K. He is also the younger brother of Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh.
Surjit Singh Slathia served as the Minister for Industries and Commerce in the Omar Abdullah government.
JKNC on Sunday said the party has accepted the resignations of Rana and Slathia. "Dr Farooq Abdullah has received & accepted the resignations of Mr Salathia & Mr Rana. No further action or comment is deemed necessary," said a tweet by the party.
