Vaishali: Bihar police have registered an FIR against 200 people, including former JD(U) MLA Munna Shukla and noted Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh, for flouting COVID norms when the state is reporting a steep rise in coronavirus cases. Shukla, a former lawmaker from Lalganj, organised a function during the night at his residence which was attended by Singh. The function was called on the occasion of Upnayan sanskar (thread ceremony) in Lalganj's Kanchhachak where people can be seen violating the COVID guidelines and social distancing goes for a toss.
The video of the incident is making rounds on social media in which a man believed be a security guard of the leader can be seen open firing from his carbine. In the viral video, Shukla and Singh can be seen singing and dancing and are not wearing masks. People present at the function are seen standing and sitting close to each other without covering their faces with a mask.

It is pertinent to note that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has tightened the curbs in the state in view of the increasing COVID cases and has permitted only 100 people to participate in gatherings.

But in the video, scores of people can be seen violating COVID norms and not following appropriate health protocols. Sadar Deputy superintendent has taken note of the incident and has registered a case against 200 people.
The incident comes at a time when Bihar recorded 12,359 new cases and 77 deaths and the state government has imposed a night curfew to contain the spread of the virus.
