Varanasi: Former BJP MLA Mayashankar Pathak was beaten up on Sunday for allegedly molesting a girl in Amali village, a video of which has gone viral. Pathak, a two-time MLA from Chiraigaon and chairman of an intercollege in Varanasi's Bhagatua, apologised to the family members of the victim and accepted his mistake.
The family members of the victim turned up at the institute premises when the latter complained that she was reportedly molested by Mayashankar Pathak. In the video which is making rounds on social media, kin of the victim and Mayashankar Pathak can be seen engaged in a verbal spat. Kin of the victim thrashed the accused in a fit of rage. Later on, Pathak asked forgiveness and the situation was brought under control.
However, Bhagatua Circle officer Abhishek Kumar Pandey said that after the video went viral neither the anyone from the victim's nor the accused side has come forward. Kumar said that we are investigating the case from all angles and action will be taken accordingly.
