Vishakapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): Five Maoist militia members surrendered in Visakhapatnam Chintapalli subdivision, Andhra Pradesh.
ASP Vidyasagar said 13 militia members surrendered this month. Vidyasagar said that many Maoist militias are surrendering due to the welfare programmes being offered by the government.
He said that the members of the Militia are coming into the civilian fold, attracted by activities taken by the Visakhapatnam district police.
ASP said that in all 25 militia members surrendered in Visakhapatnam district.
He said that there were some militia members in the Korukonda team.
They wanted to surrender as well.
