Goa Receives 2350 Vials Of COVID-19 Vaccine Covishield

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday informed that the state received 2350 vials of Covid-19 vaccine 'Covisheild' ahead of the January 16 launch of the nationwide vaccination drive.
"Goa has received 2350 vials with 10 doses each, totaling 23500 shots of COVID-19 vaccine, today morning. The vaccines are being stored appropriately by the authorities, and would be distributed to all centres 24 hours prior to vaccination day." Sawant said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Ahead of the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive from January 16, the first batch of 1,13,000 doses of Covishield vaccine from Serum Institute of India (SII) arrived at Dehradun airport on Wednesday.

The Dehradun Airport Director, DK Gautam in a statement said that the vaccine containing 1,13, 000 doses were received by Dr. K S Martolia, Assistant Director, National Health Mission, Uttarakhand.

COVID vaccines reach Bhopal for inoculation drive

The first batch of the coronavirus vaccine has reached Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal. The consignment was dispatched to Bhopal via airplane from Pune. As many as 4.5 lakh people would be vaccinated during the first phase.

The vaccination is going to start from January 16. A total of five lakh doses of the vaccine would arrive for the first phase of the vaccination in the state. The first batch of the vaccine containing 94,000 doses has reached Bhopal and has been sent to the Vaccine Division Centre.

First batch of COVID-19 vaccines reach Tripura

After Meghalaya and Assam, the first consignment of vaccines reached Tripura on Wednesday morning amid tight security. The first consignment bore 60,000 doses of vaccine with January 16th fixed to be the date of pan-India vaccine launch. Officials said, vaccination would take place at 15 session sites or vaccination points on January 16.

Paramilitary forces have started gearing up for the highly anticipated COVID-19 vaccine drive scheduled to start from January 16.  

According to various paramilitary top officials, paramedic staff and doctors will be vaccinated in the first phase followed by all paramilitary staff, which is close to about 10 lakh people.

Around 25,000 total of all paramilitary paramedics and doctors will be vaccinated in the first phase.

Serum Institute dispatches over 90 per cent vaccines ordered by govt

Serum Institute of India (SII) has dispatched over 90 per cent of the COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, order by the Government of India.

Official sources confirmed to media that about 10.99 million doses have been already dispatched from SII facility in Pune and only around 90,000 doses are left to be dispatched.

Sources have also confirmed that the remaining volume of the vaccines will be dispatched either on Wednesday or Thursday from the SII facility.

COVID vaccine to be airlifted to remote areas of J&K

In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to airlift the dose of covid vaccine to remote areas of the Union Territory, which are cut off from rest of the country due to heavy snowfall during the winter.

According to the sources in the administration, the vaccination for COVID19 will be delivered via choppers in the areas cut off due to snowfall, especially the areas of Kishtwar, Bandipora and Kupwara districts.

"The 1.5 lakh Covisheild doses would be delivered to Jammu and Kashmir in the next two days. The vaccines will be delivered directly from Pune to Jammu and Kashmir instead of Haryana and Karnal," sources said, adding that the vaccine will be sent on flights from Pune to New Delhi and from New Delhi to Jammu."

First batch of corona vaccine doses reaches Kerala

A consignment of nearly 3 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccine as part of the first batch arrived in Kerala, officials said.

As many as 2,99,500 doses were flown by GoAir flight to Nedumbassery airport at Kochi, as part of 4,33,500 doses proposed to be sent to Kerala in the first batch. The second consignment of 1,34,000 doses will reach Thiruvananathapuram on Wednesday evening.

A day after the arrival of the first consignment of Covishield, Odisha received a supply of another Covid-19 vaccine on Wednesday.

The state received as many as 20,000 doses of indigenously developed Covaxin.

A special plane carrying Covaxin from Hyderabad arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here, an official said.

The vials of Covaxin, manufactured in Hyderabad by Bharat Biotech and Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), were transported to the state vaccine store here amid tight security, he said.

First consignment of Covid vaccines land at various places amid prayers, hope

Hyderabad: The much-awaited moment finally arrived on Tuesday as the first consignment of Covid-19 vaccine for Telangana reached Hyderabad amid prayers and hopes of an early end to the pandemic.

Priests of various religious faiths offered prayers as the state received 3.64 lakh doses of Oxford-Astrazeneca's Covishield vaccine.

After arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the consignment was shifted to State Vaccine Centre at Koti, where the vials were kept in the storage under the prescribed temperature.

Divine blessings for the success of vaccination were sought as Hindu, Muslim and Christian priests offered prayers when the doses were received by top officials and shifted to the cold storage.

Director Public Health G. Srinivas Rao said both Covishield and Covaxin will be administered to health workers. In addition to 3.64 lakh doses of Covishield received from Serum Institute of India, Pune, the state also received 20,000 doses of Covaxin, developed and manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.

"This is a historic day for mankind as a vaccine is ready in a record time of 10 months," said Rao while thanking researchers and scientists who worked on developing the vaccines.

Bharat Biotech on Wednesday said it successfully air-shipped its COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, to 11 cities across the country on Tuesday. The Hyderabad-based vaccine major said it has donated 16.5 lakh doses to the Government of India.
 

"After having received the government purchase order for 55 lakh doses, the company shipped the first batch of vaccines (each vial containing 20 doses)," Bharat Biotech said in a statement.


It added that the vaccine have been sent to Ganavaram, Guwahati, Patna, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Bengaluru, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Chennai and Lucknow.
On Wednesday, the company also inked a pact with Precisa Medicamentos, a Brazilian company, to supply the COVID-19 vaccine candidate to the Latin American country.


Covaxin has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Institute of Virology.
The Covid-19 vaccine has been developed and manufactured in Hyderabad-based bio-containment facility.


Earlier, this month, India's drugs regulator DCGI approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, and indigenously-developed Covaxin, for restricted emergency use in the country.

Paramilitary forces have started gearing up for the highly anticipated COVID-19 vaccine drive scheduled to start from January 16.

Priests of various religious faiths offered prayers as the state received 3.64 lakh doses of Oxford-Astrazeneca's Covishield vaccine.

After arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the consignment was shifted to State Vaccine Centre at Koti, where the vials were kept in the storage under the prescribed temperature.

Divine blessings for the success of vaccination were sought as Hindu, Muslim and Christian priests offered prayers when the doses were received by top officials and shifted to the cold storage.

Director Public Health G. Srinivas Rao said both Covishield and Covaxin will be administered to health workers. In addition to 3.64 lakh doses of Covishield received from Serum Institute of India, Pune, the state also received 20,000 doses of Covaxin, developed and manufactured by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech.

"This is a historic day for mankind as a vaccine is ready in a record time of 10 months," said Rao while thanking researchers and scientists who worked on developing the vaccines.

Bharat Biotech on Wednesday said it successfully air-shipped its COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin, to 11 cities across the country on Tuesday. The Hyderabad-based vaccine major said it has donated 16.5 lakh doses to the Government of India.
 

"After having received the government purchase order for 55 lakh doses, the company shipped the first batch of vaccines (each vial containing 20 doses)," Bharat Biotech said in a statement.


It added that the vaccine have been sent to Ganavaram, Guwahati, Patna, Delhi, Kurukshetra, Bengaluru, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Chennai and Lucknow.
On Wednesday, the company also inked a pact with Precisa Medicamentos, a Brazilian company, to supply the COVID-19 vaccine candidate to the Latin American country.


Covaxin has been developed by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Institute of Virology.
The Covid-19 vaccine has been developed and manufactured in Hyderabad-based bio-containment facility.


Earlier, this month, India's drugs regulator DCGI approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, and indigenously-developed Covaxin, for restricted emergency use in the country.
