Kolkata (West Bengal): Lok Sabha MP Babul Supriyo who pledged his alliance to the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) after having moved out of the BJP, on Monday spoke to ETV Bharat about his new innings. The singer-turned-politician also expressed his gratitude to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for including him in the 'playing 11' and added that he is a person who would love to play on the front foot.
The Lok Sabha MP from Asansol and former BJP leader on being asked about what his role would be in the new Khela Hobe team said, "See, it is a prerogative of the Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and it will be premature for me to comment on it. All I can say is, there was a bit of disappointment when I decided to quit politics. But, that is past now. I stand by my conviction and I can tell you that I will not delete any of my comments or posts on social media."
Supriyo went on to add, "Wherever I have been, I have tried to be there whole-hearted. Obviously, Didi has spoken to me about something, which has prompted me to take this decision to return to politics and work with the Trinamool Congress. There are many talks about Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and others. Eventually, Mamata Banerjee will surely make things clear. I am aware of the brickbats being hurled at me, but that is a part of the whole process."

When asked about working with Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee's team, and the bitter exchanges he had with Abhishek Banerjee in the past, Supriyo said that the past is past and that he would like to move on, "Even as we speak, there is a match going on in the English Premier League where Brighton is leading over Leicester City. Change of teams is an ongoing process and is nothing new, neither in sports nor in politics. Both me and Abhishek have traded charges as well as sent legal notices to each other. Both of us have kept them in our own boxes, which we will eventually exchange."
"But, does it mean that after switching over to Paris Saint-Germain, Messi will not score against Barcelona? The same Messi who had once said that he is a one-club man? Obviously, some things changed in Barcelona and he had to leave with a heavy heart. So, things change and I am not bothered about the comments made against me for this decision. All I can say is that I am motivated and rejuvenated and I will work for the people giving in my 100 per cent," the MP from Asansol said.
One has to wait and see how the chemistry works out between Babul and the Mamata-Abhishek duo in the coming days.
