Protesting farmers to take out Parliament 'gherao' in May

New Delhi: As the protest against the three Central farm laws continue at the borders of the national capital, Bharatiya Kisan Union has announced a march towards the Parliament in the first week of May.

However, the union has not communicated the exact dates on which they will take out the march.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni, who was holding the meeting with several other farm unions on Wednesday, said that the protestors will not carry any kind of arms during the rally.

"As the government is not giving any kind of heed to our demands, we will march towards the Parliament to remind them about our demands. We have not fixed the date for the rally till now, but, we will announce it very soon after discussing it with the other farm unions", said, Chaduni.

'Arms and ammunition not permissible'

The farmer union has decided that the protestor will not carry any arms during the rally. Chaduini also said that they will block the Kundli–Manesar–Palwal Expressway on April 10 to warn the government about the ongoing plan for 'Parliament gherao'.

'Tractors not allowed'

Likewise, R-Day parade, this time the protestors will march on foot rather than using a tractor. However, the decision is still in pending mode as BKU leader Rakesh Tikait, on several occasions, has uttered that lakhs of tractors would join the agitation.

Meanwhile, farmers have been continuing their protest against the three newly enacted farm laws -- Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 at different borders in the national capital.
