Hours after the venue of Kisan Mahapanchayat was ransacked where Haryana Chief Minister was to address people about the Centre's three agriculture laws, Manohar Lal Khattar said that today's incident shows that Congress and Communist parties are behind these incidents and they are getting "exposed".

Amid the protest, the locals at Haryana-Rajasthan border gave an ultimatum to the authorities to get the highway cleared or else they will themselves remove the blockade.

They have given this ultimatum due to inconvenience caused to the people by the complete highway blockade.

Rahul Gandhi asks PM Modi to support farmers

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked him to support farmers amid the agitation over the new agriculture laws.

"There is still time, Modi ji, support the Annadata, leave the capitalists," read his tweet (roughly translated from Hindi). He also shared a video from his speech in April 2018 in Lok Sabha where he had criticised the Central government over farmers. Farmers have been protesting at different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three newly enacted farm laws - Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Ahead of Republic Day, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava on Saturday reviewed security arrangements and took stock of anti-terrorism measures, officials said. Besides reviewing the crime situation in the national capital, the police chief also reviewed the law and order arrangements at various border points in view of the farmers' agitation, they added.

Braving the biting cold, scores of farmers stayed put at the Delhi-Noida border on Saturday night in protest against the three recent farm laws of the Centre. Meanwhile, UP unit chief of the BKU, Yogesh Pratap Singh said that the farmers will intensify their agitation if the government will not repeal three farm laws.

IYC launches program to pay tribute to farmers died during protest

The Indian Youth Congress on Saturday launched a nationwide program 'Ek Muthi Mitti Shaheedo Ke Naam' to pay tribute to farmers who died during the agitation against the three farm laws.  

"Farmers through non-violent and democratic means are agitating against the 3 agricultural laws in this scorching cold. Tear gas shells and water cannons are being used on them which shows the dictatorial face of the government," said President of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) Srinivas BV in New Delhi.  

Criticizing the government, Shriniwas said, "the government has become dumb, deaf, and dictator."  

As part of this campaign, a map of India will be made from the soil collected from the villages of the farmers who lost their lives during the protest. "Through this campaign, the workers of the Indian Youth Congress will be sent to the villages of the martyred farmers, from there they will collect a handful of soil and will bring it to the Indian Youth Congress Office, New Delhi," youth Congress leader further added.  

Earlier, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson, Rakesh Tikait had claimed that a total of 60 farmers have lost their lives during the ongoing protest against the new farm laws.
