Farmers are Protesting against Modi government to save the country: CPI leader Atul Anjaan

ETV Bharat had a special conversation with CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan, who is the National General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha. Atul Anjan criticised the Central government's allegation that the ongoing farmers' protest being a political movement. He said that when the three agricultural laws were brought, the government did not accept the demand for a guarantee on MSP and the provision of abolishing the Essential Commodities Act.

New Delhi: The movement of farmers' organisations against the three agricultural laws seems to be growing. An example of this was seen at Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Sunday when people from different parts of the country participated in the Kisan Mahapanchayat. However, the BJP has described the farmers' movement and the Muzaffarnagar Kisan Mahapanchayat as completely political. Along with the Mahapanchayat, the United Kisan Morcha announced 'Mission UP' and appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh to overthrow the Yogi government.

That decision was also purely political. But when the farmers raised their voices against this decision, then the movement is being described as political.

Giving the example of rising prices of edible oil, Atul Anjan said that the price of edible oil has more than doubled within four months and it shows what will be the ill effects of not having the Essential Commodities Act. Under this law that protects the common man, no one can hoard and can not fix the price by creating an artificial shortage in the market, but this government wants to repeal this law and give a free hand to the big industrialists to loot. He further added that the industrialists have the right to fix the MRP, which is the maximum retail sale rate of that commodity, but the farmer does not have the right to take the MSP.

Questions are being raised that leaving behind the issue of farmers, now the Kisan Morcha is playing its role in the toppling and forming of the government. Responding to this, Atul Anjaan said that the farmers are going to be looted and in such a situation they have only this option. Farmers are talking about changing the government to protect themselves, if they see politics in this, then it is right.

The next big step of the United Kisan Morcha is to make the Bharat Bandh successful on 27 September. Atul Anjaan said that the earlier Bharat Bandh was also successful and the coming September 27, it would also be a complete success. Atul Anjaan further said that the fight of the farmers has now become to save the country and its culture. The Modi government had talked about doubling the income of farmers in five years, but the income of a few industrialists and business houses have doubled.
