New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, hit out at BJP-ruled Central Government, alleging that the three farm laws are "designed to destroy agriculture" in the country. He also released a booklet to highlight the pitfalls of the three farm laws.
"There is a tragedy unfolding in our country today. Government wants to ignore this tragedy. I'm not talking just about the farmers as it is only a part of the whole tragedy. It is important for the youngsters as this is not about the present but about the future," Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a press conference.
In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi said, "What we are seeing in industries, airports, telecom, retail, is the development of massive monopolies of this country, who I term as crony capitalists who share a close relationship with PM. Which is the space that was protected from monopolies? Agriculture Sector. That is why they bring these laws to destroy farmers.
He further added, "3-4 people are going to own India. Farmers will not get the value they deserve. The rice, wheat you (middle class) buy comes at this rate because of APMC and agriculture system. This is not an assault on farmers but on the middle class and on every single youngster in the country, who is not able to get a job."

Assuring his 100% support to the farmers, Gandhi urged every Indian to extend their support to them. "They are fighting for us. There is no deadlock. The government in its arrogance believes that they can tire out farmers. These farmers have more intelligence than PM Modi. The only solution is to repeal these laws," he said.
He claimed that these farm laws are a part of a particular process under which BJP is trying to "weaken" the farmers gradually.
Taking a swipe at BJP President JP Nadda, who earlier criticized them in a tweet for attacking the government on the reports that China has built a village in Himachal Pradesh. He said, "Why would I reply to JP Nadda? He is not my Professor. If farmers would ask any questions from me, I'll reply."
While speaking over the matter, Gandhi said, "China is noticing the weakness of India. China has a strategic vision as it wants to shape the entire world. There is no strategic vision of India. China has tested India twice. If India doesn't create a strategy against China it will take benefit of that and at that point of time, no one would be able to stop the damage."
He also claimed that he is not afraid of the ruling government as "they can't touch him". He said, "I'm not scared of these people. They can't do any harm to me except firing a bullet at me. I'm a true patriot. I'll continue to fight for the rights of the farmers."
Rahul Gandhi also made a serious allegation over Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the matter of leaked chats of the editor-in-chief of Republic, Arnab Goswami and former Cheif of BARC, Prartho Dashupta, which also revealed that the journalist had prior information of the Balakot airstrike.
"Leaking out such secretive information pertaining to our National security to a journalist is a criminal act. Such information must be with Home Minister, Defense Minister, NSA, PM and IAF Chief. Action should be taken not just against the journalist but also against the Government official who leaked it. It may be PM Modi himself," Gandhi said.
